With conventional fuel prices rising almost daily, heating systems using wood or other forms of biomass are now making economic as well as environmental sense. To have a look at some of the projects we have successfully completed visit our Case Studies page.
Rural Energy has found that all the questions our customers ask us can be split into either “general biomass” questions or “site specific” questions. Answers to most of the former can be found on our web site but it is impossible to answer most of the site specific questions without having a good knowledge of the site in question.
In more mature markets there is a good base level of knowledge in the architecture and consultant industry sectors but Biomass is still quite new in the UK so it is the manufacturers and their agents who are approached. Rural Energy is an agent for a number of boiler manufacturers but first and foremost we are Biomass Solution providers. We have a range of products we can select from to best suit our customer’s requirements. We understand the bespoke nature of biomass and so are not trying to peddle a single product into all installations but try to look objectively at what is needed and select the most appropriate system, eg base load boiler, pellet, chip, quick response, etc. It is also the case that Biomass is sometimes not appropriate and in these cases we will recommend against it.
We have devised a Standard Feasibility Study to give our customers the information they need to assess whether biomass is a feasible option for their site. It is not designed to be a very detailed analysis of the site but rather an overview with the important points extracted. It should provide the customer with sufficient comfort to decide on the next step. Eg, Biomass is an economic solution with approximately “X” years payback and I would like to look at this in more detail, or, biomass will not physically fit into this building and I should not consider it unless I wish to build a new plant room, or, Biomass is technically feasible but the costs are marginal, etc etc.
